Hi, My name is Johanna, I am a portrait photographer based in London, UK. I am working towards a masters degree in documentary photography and photojournalism at the University of Westminster. I’m heartbroken over the Dobbs decision in America and fearful for our rights in the UK and the ongoing right for access to reproductive healthcare around the world. My current project is focussing on abortion and the individual stories and experiences people have had. In telling their stories I seek to offer solidarity, empathy and understanding with the hope of normalising the conversation around bodily autonomy.
I’m asking participants to write their story on a sheet of paper and photograph it for me. I would also love to take each participant's portrait where possible. The portrait and words will be shown together in my graduation show at University of Westminster and on this website with the hopes of a wider audience seeing the finished project.
I am seeking to put a face to these stories, but if you aren’t ready to share your face, I would still be honoured to share your story. Together we can challenge stereotypes and assumptions. I welcome all circumstances, all walks of life, all stories, all countries.
Thank you for your time in reading this.
All the best,
Johanna x
