The best way to take a picture of your words is during the day. Place it flat on a surface in front of a window or glass door .
Turn OFF your indoor lights.
Overhead lights can cause unwanted shadows and make the photo appear darker. You can see the shadow of my hand & phone on the image below. This was taken with the over head lights turned on.
Hold your phone or camera directly over your paper and get close, fill the frame like I have below.
